WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman David Davis today announced that Of One Accord Ministry has received a $150,000 grant through the USDA Rural Development Agency. The grant provides funding for the purchase and renovation of the Shepherd’s Corner in Sneedville.
Of One Accord was also awarded $75,000 in December to aid in renovation and expansion of the Food Pantry in Hawkins and Hancock Counties.
Services provided by Of One Accord in 2007 include:
•31,613 people received help through Emergency Food Boxes distributed from area food pantries
•13,521 meals were delivered to an average of 60 senior citizens or handicapped people.
•1,949 summer meals were served from “The Lunch Box” bus
•1,185 offices visits were provided by the Church Hill Free Medical Clinic
•3,226 free prescriptions or labs were provided through the Clinic at a value of $183,100.
•1,131 free winter coats were given away.
•688 families received Christmas food boxes.
•927 children received Christmas gifts at parties hosted just for them.
•200 people received meals on Christmas Day that were delivered to them.
•11 home repair projects valued at $103,834 were undertaken by 21 mission teams.
•899 people received free or reduced clothing or merchandise through the thrift stores.
•7,512 people used the computer lab.
•255 meetings were held at no charge in The Shepherd’s Center community room.
