Local Farmers Are Grateful
Greene County cattle farmers whose ponds have dried up — or are close to doing so — say an emergency water-pumping program by the county’s volunteer fire departments is helping them greatly. Volunteer Fire Departments across the county agreed last month to take part in Operation Drought Relief after they were asked to do so by Greene County Mayor Alan Broyles and Bill Brown, director of the Greeneville-Greene County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security.

Greeneville-Greene County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security has also been providing bottled water for residents whose drinking water well has gone dry or become muddy as the result of the ongoing drought.
