Takin’ a Stroll for Meg
May 15, 2008 by demarcationville
The Hawkins County Relay for Life is tomorrow. Bill Grubb has the details here.
It was kind of a last minute thing: but Mama, Lil’ Sis, several friends and family members and I formed a team “Sisters in Stride” and signed up to walk.
Of course, the person most excited about this event is Sis’ best and most gorgeous lil’ friend Miss Meg. Although Meg lives in Anderson County, she has played a significant role in the Relay event here.
See, Lil’ Sis will be walking for Meg. Not because Meg is battling cancer, but because she’s winning and doing so with an unbelievable amount of resilience and grace.
So Meg is pleased to be included in the event. She is more so pleased that, although she hasn’t been able to attend school for most of this year, her classmates at Grand Oaks Elementary School in Clinton, TN have made a donation in her honor. This means (a) they haven’t forgotten her and expect her back soon and (b) in addition to the donations from her family and friends, she is officially beating the pants off the rest of us as far as fund-raising goes.
Certainly, if you’d like to donate to the American Cancer Society and help us in the ongoing fight against cancer (translation: assist Lil’ Sis and Miss Meg in “totally whipping our butts“) you can do so here.
Go ahead. We won’t be offended. We should have expected this really. After all, Miss Meg is a winner - that’s just what she does.
And if you just want to play cheerleader for her in the comments section: feel free. We’ll see that she gets the messages.

Way to go, Meg! You are raising money for a great cause and we are cheering you on all the way!
Meg, I’m very proud of you! Have a great time at the walk tomorrow. May God bless you and keep His hand on you.
