Join Us as We Look at the Moon: Howling Optional
February 20, 2008 by demarcationville
According to the Times-News, tonight’s lunar eclipse will be a celestial show to remember.
The total lunar eclipse will last for an estimated 50 minutes, but the moon will be partially eclipsed for more than an hour before and after “central totality.” The partial eclipse begins in our area at 8:43 p.m. And the total eclipse will begin at approximately 10 p.m.
We’ll be watching the eclipse at my house - mostly because it’s cheap entertainment. Plus, the next total lunar eclipse will not occur until Dec. 21, 2010, and I could be dead by then.
You’re welcome to join us.
Or you could head to the Bays Mountain Park Observatory for a free viewing session. Weather permitting, the session will begin at 8:30 p.m. If the weather is cloudy or rainy, an alternate program will be offered in the planetarium. If it is snowing or icy, then the program will be canceled.
